About three weeks prior to the official registration start for the 2016 TOUR Transalp powered by Sigma, Race Organisers have unveiled the route for the 14th edition of the seven-day road bike stage race. Up to 1,200 cyclists, all registered in teams of two, will tackle a total of 893.28 km and 19,436 metres of climbing from June 26th till July 2nd , 2016.
The classic for amateurs kicks off with a first! For the first time in its long history, the TOUR Transalp will start in Austria.
From Imst, the route leads via Brixen to St. Vigil and therefore right in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. Further stops in the probably most beautiful area of the Alps are stage town newbie Sillian and Fiera di Primiero.
From there on, the route stretches alongside the South flanks of the Alps to Crespano del Grappa and then leads via Levico Terme to Riva del Garda, where the race will conclude for the fourth time.
Besides a varying stage profile, racers can also look forward to climb more than 20 passes on their way across the main ridge of the Alps.
