E — BIKE Festival Dortmund 2016 powered by SHIMANO: April 15 to 17, major manufacturers of the cycling industry will present all things connected with e-bikes for three days in the heart of the city of Dortmund, in time to kick off the 2016 season.  In keeping with the motto, “plug into the future to get energized!”, visitors can - and should - get in the saddle themselves to experience and evaluate this new form of electric mobility on test courses or in one of the numerous side events. Registration for the DSW21 E-Bike Nightsprint, the BUFF® E-Bike criterion, the Hillclimb in the Bittermark and the SCOTT Junior Trophy presented by newspaper RuhrNachrichten is due to open at 12:00 noon on 11 February, 2016. Anyone with an interest in e-bikes may participate.

Sporting performance and an electric bicycle? That does not have to be a contradiction. Quite the contrary. Muscle strength, dexterity, and a fighting spirit are just as important with electric support as without. Anyone can take part at the E — BIKE Festival Dortmund 2016 powered by SHIMANO: No matter whether you are a pro, amateur, club racer, ambitious hobby cyclist, weekend sports cyclist or a fresh beginner. And if you have an electric bicycle of your own, you can of course use that. But if you don’t have one, you can use one of around 500 brand-new test bicycles provided by the exhibitors. The starters will be divided into classes of 25 km/h, 45 km/h and an open category. Registration for the exciting side events will start at 12:00 noon on 11 February.

Four riders competing against each other, on the newest e-bikes and against the unmatched backdrop of the Alter Markt in the center of Dortmund – that is the DSW21 E-Bike Nightsprint. In Dortmund’s top location, Diddie Schneider has built the eMTB-Testparcours - epowered by Bosch, a test obstacle course of 220 meters (722 ft.) for electric mountain bikes that is sure to delight all the mountain bike riders. Steep curves, a wave field, ramp and large jump, along with different terrains await the participants. The 32 fastest men and 16 fastest women will qualify for the finals Saturday evening and offer a spectacular show.

Road bike racing fans can look forward to a Tour de France time trial atmosphere. At the BUFF® E-Bike Criterion, the racers will start at 30-second intervals. The course is approx. 4.5 km (2.8 mi.) long and leads from the start at the festival stage in front of the Reinoldi Church through downtown Dortmund. Here, too,  anyone and everyone can take part. All you have to do is register on time! The person with the fastest time can enjoy their success on the hot seat until someone else rides a faster round.

In the E-Bike Hillclimb in the suburb of Bittermark in southern Dortmund, racers will do the infamous climb up to the famous oak tree, the Viermärker Eiche. In the challenging mountain time trial including a ramp with a 20 ° incline at the end of the course, the participants can utilize the potential offered by an electric bicycle up to the final watt!

In the SCOTT Junior Trophy presented by newspaper RuhrNachrichten, youngsters from three years will be able to show what they’re worth on the round course around the Reinoldi Church and win fantastic prizes. The school or club with the most participants will also receive an award.
